xue han, coldness in blood 血寒 Xue han literally means coldness in blood. It is a traditional Chinese medical term. The causes can be infection induced by cold air or caused by yangxu (yang deficient). . The clinical syndrome: hands and feet or lower abdomen being cold, preferring warm and abhorring coldness. Pain is lessen if it is warm. Hands and feet are blue and purple. The sensation of coldness travels from the hands and feet up to the elbows and knees. In women, the menses are irregular, pain in abdomen after the periods, blood is purple and with pieces of clots. The tongue is purple with white fur. Pulse is deep and slow.
