Medical Application of Qigong by: Joe Hing Kwok Chu Traditionally no qigong was classified as medical qigong but most qigong writers claim that qigong is part of Traditional Chinese medicine but it is difficult to prove that. No classical medical text mentioned how to train in qigong. Some classical texts mentioned that exercises, dancing, and conscious breathing are beneficial to health. Traditional Chinese medical schools in China did not teach qigong as part of the required subjects. Official medical examinations on traditional Chinese medicine never included qigong. But, there are different kinds of qigong training that can be used for medical applications. In order to use qigong for medical applications, one has to understand the theory of qigong and basic qi diagnostics. Many people who do "qigong research" are just collecting written qigong reports and resell them and have not trained in qigong. Examples of medical application of qigong.
