Magnolia biloba (Rehd． Et Wils.) Cheng is distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui, Guangxi provinces. Mainly produced in Sichuan, Hubei, Zhejiang, Guizhou, and Hunan provinces of China.

厚朴分布浙江 ，廣西，江西，湖南，湖北，四川，貴州，雲南，陝西，安徽，甘肅等地。

Actions & Indications:

主治：

transform phlegm and rids of dampness and stagnation in spleen and stomach indigestion, flatulence, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation.

具有燥濕消痰 ，下氣除滿之功能。
用於濕滯傷中，脘痞吐瀉，食積氣滯，腹脹便秘，痰飲喘咳。

2. relaxing skeletal muscle effect

3. improves digestion, inhibits pain and sedative effect

4. anti-coagulation of platelets

6. induces apoptosis in acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) cells.

现代研究：

One of the active chemicals. honokiol, can cause B-cells of lymphocytic leukemia into apoptosis. Honokiol does not ge destroyed by the digestive system readily. It can be effective in decoction.

厚朴酚能使到淋巴白學病之B细胞凋亡。厚朴酚不易被消 化系统破壞，所以厚朴用於湯剤會有效。

Cautions:

禁忌：

Use caution during pregnancy.

It antagonizes ze xie and han shui shi (寒 水 石 ).

Large dosages and/or long term usage can be toxic to kidneys.

懷孕期間，小心應用。反澤 蘭或寒水石。大劑量或長期服用可能對 腎臟有毒。
