Other name: bai hua mei Cantonese Pronunciation: luk ngok mooi The variety that has green calyx is called lu e mei, literally means plum (flowers) with green calyx. In the classics Ben Cao Gang Mu : bai hua me, literally mean white flower plum. The flowers are being used. Usually they are being used for cooling. Where grown: Originated in China. Produced in Sichuan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hunan, Gizhou. Those produced in Changxin od Zhejiang are deemed best. Pharmaceutical name: Pruni flos Latin botanical name: Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc Common Name: plum flower Characteristics and channel (meridian) relation: related to liver and lung channels. Sour and astringent flavou. Neutral property. Uses: relieving stomachache caused by dominant liver qi; globus hystericus (sensation of obstruction of throat during hysteria attacks) anorexia, dizziness, scrofula (TB of lymph nodes), resolving phlegm.
