wen pi tang 溫脾湯
Name of Formula: wen pi tang
Application: weak digestive system, diarrhea due to deficiency, chronic diarrhea with muccus and/or blood, pain in abdomen, tight deep pulse, chronic low kidney function, high BUN (blood urea nitrogen) and Scr (serum creatinine), intestine blockage, obstruction of pylorus, chronic diarrhea due to spleen deficient and yang deficient, food stagnation due to deficiency.
Composition:
da huang 12 g, prepared fu zi 6 g, gan jiang 6 g, ren shen 6 g, baked gan cao 6 g.
Boil with water and use as tea.
Adjustment:
if cold in abdomen and pain is intense, add rou gui 4 g, mu xiang 10 g, tai wu 10 g.
if also accompanying with vomiting, add prepared ban xia10 g, sha ren12 g .

In the study the weight individual herb in wen pi tang formula was da huang15g, dang shen5g, baked fu zi9g, gan cao3g, gan cao3g. If edema is serious add bai mao gen 10g.

方名:溫脾湯 《千金方 》
[組成] 大黃 12 g,熟 附 子 6 g,乾 薑 6 g,人 參 6 g,炙甘 草 6 g
[功用] 溫補脾陽,攻下冷積。降低血尿素氮(BUN)、血清肌酐(Scr)
[主治] 脾陽不足,冷積便秘,或久痢赤白,腹痛,脈沉弦。治療慢性腎功能不全。
[方解] 由於脾陽不足,致使冷積內停,陽氣不運,腑氣不通,脾虛失運。本方中熟附子溫陽散寒,大黃蕩滌積滯,乾 薑,人 參,炙甘 草溫補脾胃陽氣。
[臨床應用] 現代常用於治療腸梗阻,幽門梗塞,慢性痢疾等屬於脾陽不足,冷積內停者。
[加減法]
A.如果寒凝腹痛較甚者,加 肉 桂 4 g,木 香 10 g, 台烏10 g
B.如兼有嘔吐者,加 半 夏10 g,砂仁12 g
按此看温脾湯與西藥比較。
