wài guān point SJ5  外關穴 (in English and Chinese 中英文)

wài guān    SJ5

 

Location: in the dorsal forearm, at the line joining yang chi point and the tip of the elbow,  2 cun above the transverse dorsal crease of the wrist, between the ulna and radius.
 

Application:  fever, headache, cheek pain, hearing loss, ringing in the ears, red eyes and throat, hypochondriac pain, shoulder pain, elbow and arm flexion and extension negative, finger pain, tremor.
 

Combination:

  1. with zu lin qi (GB15) for treatment of the neck pain, shoulder pain;

  2. with da zhui, qu chi for treatment of  cold or flu; 

  3. with yang ling quan for treatment of pain in the rib cage.
     

Acupuncture method: perpendicularly insert 0.5-1 inch; moxibustion can be used.

 

外關穴 SJ5
[定位]在前臂背側,當陽池穴與肘尖的連線上,腕背橫紋上2寸,尺骨與橈骨之間。
[主治]熱病,頭痛,頰痛,耳聾,耳鳴,目赤腫痛,脅痛,肩背痛,肘臂屈伸不利,手指疼痛,手顫。
[配伍]

  1. 配足臨泣(GB15)治頸項強痛、肩背痛;

  2. 配大椎、曲池治外感熱病;

  3. 配陽陵泉治脅痛。
     

 [刺灸法]直刺0.5-1寸;也可灸。
