Taiga Region

Edited by: Joe Hing Kwok Chu

A sub-arctic, evergreen coniferous forest of northern Eurasia located just south of the tundra and dominated by firs and spruces.

The name originally came from Altaic, a language commonly believed to be of the family of Europe and Asia that includes the Turkic, Tungusic (Evenki of Siberia and Manchu of Northeastern China), and Mongolian subfamilies.
