Now it is mainly produced by ranch raised musks. The herb is mainly produced in Sichuan, Tibet, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Ganxu, Inner Mongolia; also in lesser amount in northeastern provinces, Henan, Anhui, Hubie, Guizhou, and Qinghai provinces.

The synthesized she xiang has been widely used, replacing the natural she xiang which is short in supply. The properties and functions of synthesized she xiang are basically similar to those of natural she xiang.

現 在多人工飼 養 。藥 材主產 四川,  西藏,  云南,  陝 西 ,  甘 肅 ,  内蒙古；此外，東 北,  河南,  安徽,  湖北,  廣 西,  貴 州,  青 海 等地亦產 。

人工 合成的麝香，與天然麝香的性能，功用基本相同，現已廣泛代 替天然麝香，彌補藥源不足。

1. effect on CNS: small amount stimulates, large amount inhibits.

2. stimulate respiration

6. steroid effect on striated muscles and smooth muscles of the bronchioles.

7. stimulates muscles of the uteri (contra-indication with pregnancy)

8. antibiotic effect: inhibits Staphylococcus aureus and E. coli.

8. 抗 菌 ﹕ 抑制大 腸杆菌和金黃色葡萄球菌的作用等，

not to use in cases of pregnancies, and in cases of yinxu (yin deficient)   with heat. Use caution in cases of hypertension.
