It is an anti-adrenergic drug.

Use: management of mild to moderate hypertension

Adverse reactions:

Lowering of cardiovascular functions and can cause nasal congestion, migraine, depression, and hypotension (low blood pressure).

Endocrine and metabolic problems: sodium and water retention.

Gastrointestinal problems: abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, increased gastric acid secretion.

Actions:

Onset of action: within 3-6 days

Duration of action: 2-6 weeks

Dosage: adults, oral: 01 - 0.5 mg/day in 1-2 doses

Dosage Forms: tablet: 0.1 mg (100s); 0.25mg (100s)
