From saponins the following are separated: prosapogenin, 3-O-β-glucose, platycodoside C, platycogenin-3-O-β-glucoside platycodigenin, glucose, xylose. etc , 根含多种皂貳，水解後分 得 ：桔 梗皂貳元（platycodigenin）,為主要的皂貳元，以及少量的新遠志酸（polygalacic acid） ，桔梗酸A（platycogenic acid A），桔梗酸B（platycogenic acid B），桔梗酸C（platycogenic acid C）。此外，從皂貳 中尚分得 前皂貳元（prosapogenin）,為次級 ，是桔梗皂貳元-3-O-β-葡萄糖貳(platycogenin-3-O-β-glucoside) 。由總皂中分得桔梗皂貳C（platycodoside C）,水解生成桔梗皂貳元（platycodigenin）和葡萄糖，木糖，鼠李糖 ，阿拉伯 糖（2:1:1:1）。以前報道的桔梗皂貳 （platycidin）經証明為一混合貳 。根另含α-菠菜甾醇，α-菠菜甾醇-β-D-葡 萄糖 ，樺 皮醇（betulin） ，桔梗聚果糖（platycodinin）。根中尚含14种氨基酸，總含量達1.22%。
