Aminopyrine is a painkiller and fever reducer that is now rarely used because of its dangerous side effects.
Its function is the same as methotrexate. It is mainly being used in treatment of acute leukemia.
Its toxicity reaction is the same as methotrexate but it is more toxic for the central nervous system. It is not to be used in patients with impaired kidney function or in chronic leukemia patients.
Dosage:
Oral dosage for adult:daily 0.5 to 1 mg. Children under 4 years of age: 0.2 mg; over 4 years of age: 0.5 mg
